We’ve partnered with Pawsitive Alliance for the #WhyNotMePets campaign to give difficult-to-home pets an extra paw up. These lovable pets are ready to find their forever homes.

MEET PIPER.

Age/Gender/Size: 2.5 yrs old / Female / Small

Breed: Chihuahu

a/Terrier Mix

Likes: She likes dog parks, treats, walks, cuddles, and of course, kissing your face!

Dislikes: Stairs & extended walks

Special Considerations: Due to a past injury, Piper has some special needs with walking (see below to contact shelter).

Piper is a 2.5-year-old Chihuahua-terrier mix pup with a short coat and a small Mohawk of blonde and cream spots. She has a wonderful disposition; Piper is great with dogs of all ages and sizes, and is even good with children. She loves squeaky toys, antlers to chew on, lots of treats, playing tug-o-war and sleeping on the bed.

Piper is always ready for a car ride to the dog park to see her buddies; her foster mom says she’s made plenty of friends, and when she’s not hanging with the other pooches, she’s following mom around.

Piper is kennel-trained and knows how to use a doggie door, but she is still working on being house-trained due to a past injury. This is also the reason why when she gets excited her bottom stays on the floor while the rest of her bounces up and down! When walking gets really tough, she’s benefitted from hydrotherapy, but is currently mobile. Her perfect home would be a one level house without stairs, and with a family who is home most of the day or have other dogs around to play with. For more questions or concerns about her condition, please contact the shelter below.

Piper is a snuggle buddy and loves telling you she appreciates you by showering you with doggie kisses.  She’s been fully vetted, and is up to date on vaccinations, rabies and is spayed. She is available at Yakima Valley Pet Rescue (WA); you can begin the adoption process on their site or you can call with questions: (509) 248-3113.

Every Wednesday, Healthy Paws will highlight a new pet from Pawsitive Alliance’s #WhyNotMePets campaign. Visit the #WhyNotMePets page for a list of adoptable dogs and cats.
