Get to Know the Rescue Race Runners Up: Pacific Pug, Arizona Cattle Dog Rescue, & Saving Grace
In August 2018, the Healthy Paws Foundation announced the third run of our grant initiative, The Healthy Paws Rescue Race, funded through our “Every Quote Gives Hope” program. Six organizations were selected to participate and “race” to the finish line, and the winner was chosen based on the number of votes they received. Healthy Paws gave a grand total of $70,000, divided among six nonprofits, and every organization received at least $5,000. Here are our three runners up, whom each won some much-needed grants to help with operations and their animals’ welfare.
Pacific Pug Rescue was awarded $10,000
Pacific Pug Rescue is a Pacific Northwest volunteer-run organization that rescues those pugs that have been surrendered or abused, regardless of age or condition. They provide foster pet parents and eventually forever homes, as well as medical care. They’ll be using their grant money to pay medical costs for the pugs already in their care.
Arizona Cattle Dog Rescue was awarded $7,500
Arizona Cattle Dog Rescue (ACDR) is a non-profit that rescues and re-homes Australian Cattle Dogs in Arizona. ACDR fully vets every rescue, including spay/neuter, vaccinations, and treatments for unique conditions or injury, so the grant money will help to cover these expenses.
Saving Grace Rescue was awarded $5,000
Saving Grace Rescue is a non-profit organization focused on rescue and adoption of special needs and neonatal kittens. One hundred percent of their intake is pulled from euthanasia lists and high-risk shelters, so the grant money will fund medical care for these incoming kitties.
