Why Not Me? Meet Lala!

We’ve partnered with Pawsitive Alliance for the #WhyNotMePets campaign to give difficult-to-home pets an extra paw up. These lovable pets are ready to find their forever homes.

Breed: Terrier Mix

Age/Gender/Size: 2.5 years / Female / Large

Likes: Lala loves her toys & backyard horseplay

Special Considerations: Needs a home with no additional pets, canine or feline

Welcome to Lala land! We aren’t referring to the romantic comedy-drama that made moviegoers around the world swoon, but rather to this adorable little lady who will for sure steal your heart! Lala is currently with a foster family, waiting to find her fur-ever home. She is available for adoption through Seattle Humane, a 501(c)3 organization located in Bellevue, WA.

Lala has a beautiful silver-blue coat with a charming flash of white on her chin. When her humans are around, her big grin says it all – she LOVES people so much. It is because of her love and adoration that Lala has not yet found a permanent home, for she does exhibit separation anxiety.

Lala’s ideal home will allow for her to be surrounded by her family on a daily basis. A family member that works from home would be especially great, and Lala has no problem letting you work away diligently while she snoozes on the couch. Lala would even enjoy traveling and seeing the country with a pet parent that drives trucks for a living.

Always ready for a game of fetch, Lala loves to cruise around the yard with her toys. A fenced yard will enable Lala to work off some energy after a “ruff” day at work with her human. Lala can be a little nervous around other canines. Because of this, dog parks can present too much stress for Lala, so happy pittie zoomies around the backyard with her human family is more than enough. Lala will need to be the only pet in the home. With introduction, kids of all ages are welcome; they must however be well prepared to receive lots of snuggles and sloppy kisses!

A cozy home that provides lots of love, patience and welcome, open arms are all that Lala needs from her new family. One-on-one time will be a great confidence booster for Lala as well. If you would like to meet Lola and experience her lovey-dovey aura yourself and find out more information about the adoption process and associated fees, please visit Seattle Humane’s website at  https://www.seattlehumane.org/adoption/adopt/.

The staff is pleased to also provide additional behavioral information to set Lala and her new family up for success. Like all dogs adopted through Seattle Humane, Lala will be going home spayed, microchipped and vaccinated. Her new family will even receive a certificate for a complimentary veterinary examination. Most dog adoptions include six weeks of on-campus training classes as well!

Adoption fee?

People are sometimes surprised to find out that most animal shelters have an adoption fee. They might think, “Wait a minute! You got this animal for free so why are you charging me to take it off your hands?” This way of thinking ignores both the costs of housing animals as well as their medical care.

Here are some of the things your adoption fee usually covers:

  • Spay/neuter for dogs and cats of age
  • Vouchers for spay/neuter for puppies and kittens too young to be altered
  • Deworming and parasite medication
  • Core vaccines
  • Microchipping (at some shelters)

All of these services are recouped in the standard adoption fee, but at a fraction of what you would have to pay most veterinarians. In fact, adopting a pet at a shelter is a net financial gain for most responsible pet parents in terms of the cost of care.

Every Wednesday, Healthy Paws will highlight a new pet from Pawsitive Alliance’s #WhyNotMePets campaign. Visit the #WhyNotMePets page for a list of adoptable dogs and cats.
