Keeping your pet’s teeth healthy is just as important as keeping their water bowl full. Like a balanced diet or daily exercise, good dental care should be part of your pet’s everyday routine. Of course, life happens — illnesses and accidents are part of it. That’s why Healthy Paws covers dental injuries and illness.
Let’s say your dog or cat breaks or fractures a tooth due to chewing on a bone or biting a fence. Ouch! Not to worry: we cover accidents like these, whether the teeth need to be repaired or extracted.
Mostly affecting smaller dogs, this fluid-filled sac can form around an unerupted tooth. The good news? Because unerupted or missing teeth are considered congenital, treatment is covered.
This painful condition can affect our whiskered companions, resulting in severe inflammation of the mouth and gums.
Overbites and underbites caused by this hereditary issue can turn every bite — even of a favorite snack — into a struggle.
Healthy Paws offers dental coverage with just a couple of exceptions.
Accidents happen! If your furry friend chips or breaks a tooth, we’ll cover the extraction or reconstruction of the damaged teeth as long as the injury is not pre-existing and occurred after any applicable waiting period.
Any issues your pet had before joining the plan aren’t eligible for coverage. Make sure to sign up your pet early so they have the protection they deserve!
There is no annual limit on dental coverage as Healthy Paws offers unlimited coverage for all eligible claims, including dental accidents. However, the policy does not provide coverage for the vet exam fee associated with dental treatment.
To file a claim, simply submit a photo of your itemized veterinary invoice through the Healthy Paws online Customer Center or the Healthy Paws mobile app, as a claim form is not required for processing. For your first claim, you will also need to submit your pet’s complete medical records, which can be provided by your veterinarian. The claim must be submitted within 90 days of the invoice date.
* Conditions are eligible for coverage as long as there were no signs or symptoms of the condition prior to enrollment or during any applicable waiting period, and subject to all policy terms and conditions. Visit our FAQs for more information on waiting periods.
